In support of Baylor University's mission to educate men and women for worldwide leadership and service, the Center for Global Engagement is launching a Graduate Certificate in Global Engagement in partnership with George W. Truett Theological Seminary. This pilot initiative represents the natural evolution of Baylor's commitment to global learning, extending a proven undergraduate framework into graduate education and creating a rigorous new pathway for master's and doctoral students to develop the competencies that consequential leadership demands.
The certificate integrates globally focused coursework, intercultural development, experiential immersion, and reflective practice to prepare students for leadership across professional, academic, ministry, healthcare, nonprofit, and community contexts. Participants cultivate intellectual rigor, cultural humility, ethical discernment, and a sustained commitment to human flourishing, equipping them not merely to understand a complex, interconnected world, but to engage it with purpose and skill.
Truett Seminary serves as the inaugural partner, and its role extends beyond participation. The lessons, structures, and student outcomes generated through this pilot will directly inform the certificate's expansion across Baylor's graduate and professional schools, creating durable infrastructure for global competence development institution wide. What begins as a partnership becomes a blueprint.
The Graduate Certificate in Global Engagement embodies what Baylor has always believed: that the most enduring education prepares students not only for careers, but for lives of faithful service, effective leadership, and meaningful impact in an increasingly diverse and interconnected world.
