FALL SEMESTER ABROAD SPECIFICS
TIMELINE: The program will start in early/mid-September, and students will return home in December, 2025.
PRE-TRAVEL: During the summer, before they depart, students will attend Global Scholars-specific orientation events and traditional Baylor Orientation and Line Camp (Session TBD) to learn about campus culture and experience Baylor traditions. They'll learn tips for travel, packing, and living in a new city and meet their community of students and Baylor faculty who will travel with them.
SUPPORT: Baylor will send a faculty member and a graduate student with each student cohort. Students will also receive support from the Host University where they will receive care and support during their time abroad.
WHILE ABROAD: They'll take classes at the host university and learn from Baylor Faculty and take Baylor-approved courses taught by the host university Faculty.
TYPICAL WEEK: Everybody's week will be different based on their interests and hobbies, but an average week abroad will include classes, study/homework, a class-related co-curricular event, an extracurricular event (such as going to the movies), grocery shopping, cooking, doing laundry, socializing, and experiencing abroad life. The program includes several co-curricular elements, including weekend study tours and city-based day trips. Extracurricular opportunities include rugby games, theatre visits, and farm visits. Independent living in a European city means doing your own grocery shopping and cooking, so make sure to get practicing now! Of course, it's also important to remember that you're abroad to study, and class/study time will make up a large portion of every week in college, whether at home or abroad.
BAYLOR TRADITIONS ABROAD: Throughout their time abroad, students will experience Baylor traditions such as Chapel, Dr. Pepper Hour, and football game watch parties. They'll also have opportunities for two group trips. Family may decide to visit. Remember, you will need to work around your academic commitments.
GROUP TRIPS & TRAVEL: The program will provide two overnight trips to different areas of Western Europe. More information will be provided closer to departure. For the safety of our small group, individual travel outside of the country will be permitted but must be documented, and trip leaders must be aware ahead of time.
RETURNING HOME: In January, students will have a re-entry orientation in Waco before Spring classes start. Students will also have on-campus housing assignments waiting for them. They'll have the opportunity to join organizations and participate in Greek recruitment in January.
