First Semester Abroad - Liverpool Hope University, United Kingdom
Why Start Abroad?
Kick off your college experience by building strong bonds with a tight-knit group of adventurous freshmen—you'll grow together, learn together, and stay connected all four years.
Take your passions beyond the classroom as you dive into hands-on learning in an international setting—where your studies go beyond borders through excursions and cross-cultural experiences.
Get ready to lead in a global world. You'll gain the tools to work across cultures, think with a global mindset, and lead with resilience, curiosity, and confidence.
Who We Are Looking For:
Global Scholars is an exclusive opportunity for first-year admitted freshmen at Baylor University. We’re seeking motivated students who shine in the classroom, lead in their communities, and are passionate about exploring the world through international or intercultural experiences.
Final selections will be made by June 1, 2025, and participants must be 17 or older by August 2025.

Orientation
Global Scholars will attend Baylor Orientation Session 10 (July 22–23). This is our preferred session because it allows you to meet each other in person and attend the in-person Global Scholars Orientation, which will take place July 22–23.
Can’t make Session 10? That’s okay—you may attend another Orientation session, but you’ll need to complete an Alternate Online Global Scholars Orientation instead. Please only choose this option if necessary.
Line Camp Combination is optional, but we highly encourage you to attend! It’s a fun way to start building community with your fellow Scholars and future Baylor classmates. These dates would be July 22nd–26th.
Academics
Global Scholars isn’t just a study abroad program—it’s a powerful academic journey designed for students who are ready to think deeply, grow intellectually, and tackle global challenges with confidence.
Students will spend the fall semester immersed in a rich, international learning environment that blends rigorous coursework with meaningful cultural experiences. There’s no language requirement to participate—introductory culture classes are included to enhance global awareness, but they don't have to count toward your credit load.
Academically, students will take two courses taught by Baylor faculty and three to four courses with professors from Liverpool Hope University, earning a total of 15–18 credit hours. Every course is designed to broaden perspectives, deepen critical thinking, and prepare students for leadership in an interconnected world.
This is more than travel—it’s a transformative academic experience with lifelong value. Click here for details.
Cost and Financial Aid
Students in the Global Scholars Program will pay regular Baylor tuition plus a program fee. This fee covers essentials like registration, international insurance, round-trip flights, housing, pre-departure orientation, cultural excursions, and some meals.
Estimated personal expenses (such as additional meals, personal travel, or souvenirs) are not included and can be found on the program website.
The best part? All Baylor academic scholarships and need-based financial aid apply just as they would if you were studying on the Waco campus. Plus, once you’re accepted into the program, you’ll be eligible to apply for a limited number of additional scholarships to help offset costs. Click here for details.
