F-1 Student Processes
Studying in the United States can be a wonderful experience. It also includes responsibility for following all U.S. Government regulations for students using the F-1 visa. Baylor University has been certified by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) for F1 student attendance with it's most recent recertification in April 2023. The U.S. Government Student & Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) expects students to know and understand the expectations and regulations for studying in the U.S. with the F-1 visa. In addition, Baylor has specific processes that must be followed.
Fortunately, the Center for Global Engagement and specifically the International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) staff members are here to assist you and help you navigate the various regulations and policies. Our job is to help you maintain status. Maintaining status is the key to remaining in the U.S. to pursue your studies. Some important things that you can do include:
-
Read the information on page 2 of your I-20
-
Attend the mandatory Maintaining Status Session during your first semester at Baylor
-
Review the Maintaining Status webpage found HERE
-
Contact your International Student Advisor if you have questions. If you do not know who your International Student Advisor is, you can email ISSS_Support@baylor.edu.
Below you will see links to many regulations and processes. If you need to submit specific requests to ISSS (e.g. CPT, I-20 Reprint, etc.), you must do that through your Global Bears profile. All requests can be found in Global Bears in the Student Requests tab.
Remember, the responsibility to maintain your status belongs to you. You are expected to know and follow the regulations and processes, but we are ready to assist you, so please allow us to serve you.
