Important Documents and When to Carry Them

Keeping important documents secure and accessible is an important responsibility for international students and scholars.  Documents including but not limited to your passport, visa, I-20/DS-2019, Current I-94, EAD, etc. should be kept in a way that preserves them from being destroyed, ruined, or lost.  Our office has a green plastic folder that you can use if you need something to hold all of your documents.

It is critical that students and scholars carry the following items with them at all times:

• Copy  of the Most Recent I-94
• Copy of current I-20 (F1 students) or DS-2019 (J1 students or scholars)
• Baylor ID Card
• Other documents to carry if you have them include your Driver's License, EAD card, other ID card

In addition, when students are traveling outside of the Waco area, students and scholars should always carry their passport with their valid F1 or J1 visa in it.
