Baylor offering one program for freshmen, this is the Global Scholars Program. https://globalengagement.web.baylor.edu/global-baylor/global-scholars. Outside of this program. You must complete 24 credit hours on campus prior to study abroad. This is true whether you bring courses such as advanced placement or transfer credits with you. It is important to develop strong study habits at the collegiate level and to adjust to Baylor systems prior to tackling a new culture or coursework in another country. You can study abroad the summer after your freshman year, though, so come see us early.

If I study abroad will I graduate on time?

However, this does take planning. Work closely with your academic advisor and start early!
Can I study abroad my final semester?
Yes! However, students who participate in a study abroad not taught by Baylor faculty their final semester at Baylor should not expect to graduate at the end of that term because differences in academic calendars between Baylor and international universities make it unlikely that official transcripts will reach Baylor in time for graduation certification.

What happens if I need to withdraw from the program?
If you need to withdraw from your program, please first review the withdrawal policy in your BearsAbroad application. Keep in mind that most withdrawals are non-refundable, regardless of the withdrawal date and circumstances. Once you have reviewed the policy, please notify the Study Abroad Office as soon as possible by selecting the second option below and providing us with more details. If you are withdrawing from an exchange/affiliate program after being accepted by the international partner, you must also notify your contact at the international partner of your intent to withdraw. Students must adhere to all withdrawal policies of the international partner, including any financial penalties incurred.
Are there any alternative programs if my first choice is unavailable?
Yes, we offer a variety of programs. If your first choice is unavailable, the Study Abroad Office will reach out to you directly to discuss similar options that meet your academic and personal interests.
What is the deadline for changing my program or location?
Program change deadlines vary by program. For Faculty-Led Programs, you must request a change before paying the commitment fee. For Partner Programs, changes must be made before the program's application deadline.
Can I extend my stay in the host country?

What should I do if my program is canceled or changed?
If your program is canceled or altered, the Study Abroad office will notify you immediately with next steps. They will work with you to explore alternative options or program adjustments.
What is the total cost of the program?
The total cost varies by program and includes tuition, fees, housing, meals, and additional expenses such as excursions. To see the exact costs for your program, visit BearsAbroad and review your specific program details.
Are there any payment deadlines I should be aware of?
Yes, commitment fees for Faculty-Led Programs are due March 15 for Summer and Fall programs and October 15 for Winter and Spring programs. All additional Baylor related study abroad payments follow Baylor’s official payment schedule. Dates can be found on Baylor's One-Stop webpage.For exchange/affiliate programs, host institution payment deadlines are determined by that institution/partner for room & board, application and non-academic fees. Students will be informed of these by the international institution/partner. Students are responsible for adhering to these deadlines.
Are there additional fees for excursions or activities?

How do I pay my Commitment fee?
You can pay the commitment fee only after being formally accepted into a Faculty-Led Study Abroad Program. Once accepted, you will receive an email with detailed payment instructions. If you have not received this email, you have not yet been accepted into the program.
How do I know if my Commitment fee went through?
After submitting your payment, you should receive a confirmation on the screen. Additionally, check your Baylor E-Bill account to verify that the deposit has been processed. Your application status in BearsAbroad should update to Committed within 1-2 business days. If you do not see this change, or if there are any issues, contact the Study Abroad Office for assistance by selecting the second option below and providing us with more information.
